Zur Entwicklung des deutschen Losungsbuchs im 20. Jahrhundert

Abstract

The article gives information about the modifications that the German-language book of Daily Texts (Watchwords) has undergone during the 20th and early 21st centuries. It deals with the publishers and print-runs, the editorial process, the Bible translations used, the selection of non-biblical texts, the other additional material and, in detail, the changes that were made to the stock of biblical sayings (the “Spruchbuch”). It becomes apparent how much the Daily Texts have reflected, and continue to reflect, the (changing) spirit of the times.
